Position Summary:

Paper Planes PR is looking to hire a casual assistant publicist to work up to 10 hours per week – days/hours to be negotiated for the right candidate. To help run comprehensive PR campaigns, covering a range of services including DSPs/3rd party playlists, radio (triple j, dance, community, specialty), blogs/press, TV and non -diffusion.

Reporting to the Melbourne-based Advertising Manager, this role will be an integral part of the promotions team, helping to drive client profile across Australia and New Zealand.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist in writing press releases/promotional material.

Compile campaign reports for clients + provide regular updates on promotional activities as required.

Create pitch sheets for campaigns.

Liaise with the team on campaign strategy and proactively present new ideas.

Responsible for servicing AU/NZ media across DSPs, 3rd party playlists, radio, blogs/press, TV and non-broadcast.

Responsible for finding new media contacts and features.

Ensure all media and customer communications are handled and followed up in a timely manner.

Coordinate artist PR schedules, attend interviews, and arrange phone/zoom interviews as needed.

Help plan social media/website content.

Other ad hoc tasks, ie. Spotify playlists update.

Skills & Diplomas:

Experience of at least 1 year in a similar position.

Experience in the music industry is preferred but not essential.

Good understanding of the AU/NZ media landscape, especially youth media.

Strong time management skills and attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Proactive, while being able to work independently and in a team.

Mastery of the Microsoft Office / Google Drive landscape.

Passionate about music and conducting conversation.
