About the Melbourne School of Professional and Continuing Education (MSPACE)

The Melbourne School of Professional and Continuing Education (MSPACE) strives to expand the educational offer of the University in an increasingly competitive global environment for talents and skills.

MSPACE provides an institutional focal point for the development, delivery and promotion of professional, continuing and executive education programs and services for all academic divisions of the University.

MSPACE helps academic divisions develop and deliver rewarded and unrewarded training across a range of teaching and learning delivery modes and seeks to expand opportunities for engagement in a variety of professional sectors.

In order to contribute to these objectives, MSPACE supports and extends the professional, continuing and executive education initiatives of the University by providing a coherent University-wide framework.

About the role

The position will work in multidisciplinary teams to collect data and articulate market feasibility, opportunities and product solutions that meet market demand and needs. Working with internal and external stakeholders, the Product Manager will identify and guide responses to market research, identify market opportunities, and articulate industry and customer needs in the form of business cases and product proposals.

The position addresses a range of complex content, structure, policy and operational issues. The Product Manager is responsible for the successful development of the Melbourne MicroCert product portfolio. The incumbent should provide support and brief key School staff on trends and best practices, as appropriate. Working frequently with internal and external stakeholders, the incumbent will deliver results that are cognizant of the broader goals and activities of the university and school.

In a typical work week, you can:

  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, both industry contributors and academic subject matter experts, to define market issues, needs and opportunities, market size and characteristics, share of market and to formulate product value propositions for defined audiences.
  • Actively engage and build relationships with key industry contacts, using feedback to shape course offerings and test proposals.
  • Work collaboratively with key academic stakeholders to define course structure, outcomes, and points of difference for new micro-degrees.
  • Build on research and organize target audience workshops with academic speakers to define client needs and the benefits of micro-accreditations that meet those needs.
  • Contribute to MSPACE’s portfolio and market strategies including pricing, promotion and distribution roadmap across Melbourne MicroCert’s product portfolio and deliver all products in accordance with brand values ​​and quality aspirations of UoM.

About you

You are a passionate problem solver with a passion for challenges, and you thrive as part of a cross-functional team. You have strong project management skills and enjoy the use of data analytics when it comes to building solutions, deploying new features, and meeting business needs.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Postgraduate degrees in business, marketing or other related field; or progress to postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in account service, course development or product marketing; or extensive management experience and expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and / or education / training.
  • Experience in the education sector.
  • Well-established project management skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and responsiveness in planning and developing new ideas and approaches to ensure achievement of organizational goals.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships and influence a range of stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
