Premier League stance on Arsenal loans as Martin Odegaard deal follows Mat Ryan

Arsenal are free to continue loan deal for Martin Odegaard despite Mat Ryan arriving on Friday, report football.london.

The Gunners made the surprise move for Australian international Ryan on Friday, snatching the 28-year-old on loan from Brighton until the end of the season after he fell out of favor under Graham Potter.

Ryan is ready to provide cover for the current Arsenal No.1 Bernd Leno, while Arteta also hopes Norwegian star Odegaard will be on loan from borrow for a short time.

With Dani Ceballos already in the Emirates on his own loan deal with Los Blancos, it had been suggested that the Gunners would not be able to complete the Odegaard move as they would already have two loan players in their squad.

However, as long as there is premier league Rules on loan agreements, clubs are only allowed to loan two players from other domestic clubs, which means they are free to bring more players on temporary agreements from abroad.

Fulham, for example, currently have six players on loan in their squad, but only two – Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea and Mario Lemina from Southampton – belong to other English clubs.

The others – Alphonse Areola (Paris Saint-Germain), Joachim Andersen (Lyon), Ademola Lookman (RB Leipzig) and Ola Aina (Turin) – are all from foreign clubs.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is hoping to secure a deal for Odegaard before the January transfer window closes as the Gunners boss looks to add another creative talent to his squad’s ranks.

Mat Ryan trained with Arsenal on Friday

the Evening standard, meanwhile, reports that Arteta is looking to add cover to the left-back after Sead Kolasinac returns to Schalke on loan.

Ryan Bertrand of Southampton is one of the names considered by the Gunners, although a move may wait until the summer when he will be available with a free transfer.

Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell is another left-back Arsenal would be watching.
