3D printing and scanning technical instructor

Are you looking for a career in 3D printing and scanning? the Royal College of the Arts is looking for an experienced, adaptable, dynamic, highly motivated and results-oriented individual to work with their technical support team.

DAY WORK AS A TECHNICAL INSTRUCTOR IN 3D PRINTING AND SCAN:

  • Provide technical instruction, support, advice and 3D printing or 3D scanning demonstrations to the College. Assist in the operation of the facility by preparing files for printing, machine operation and equipment maintenance.
  • Support the growth of 3D printing and scanning equipment, software and services across the College, including the purchase and implementation of new equipment and services.
  • Continuous learning of 3D printing and scanning technologies within a dynamic team.
  • Help students and staff solve problems and find technical solutions.
  • Maintain specialized equipment and safety and keep accurate records.
  • Support college teaching, learning and research activities that may require 3D printing and scanning technologies, where applicable.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Knowledge of 3D printing processes including the transition from 3D CAD data, through digital manufacturing, to physical output.
  • Experience working with one of the following CAD programs or similar; Magics, Rhino, Solidworks, Artec Studio, GeoMagcis, ZBrush, Alias, Maya, Blender or Fusion360.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to show initiative and work in a team.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, planning and problem solving skills
  • Excellent user focus and flexible approach
  • A working understanding of pattern making techniques.
  • Some experience working with data produced by a 3D scanning process would be desirable but not essential.
